Knowing How To Write A Stage Play

By Eula Clarke

Fortunately there are many young and talented writers and poets who are currently living upon this planet. Luckily many of them learn how to write a stage play while they are doing their acting classes. This is important for many thespians to know since they like to direct, produce and create scripts. Everyone knows that leading actors are an important part of the theater as well as dazzling scenery and interesting stage lights. A person who embarks on this endeavor also knows the importance of major characters.

There are a great deal of writing schools around New York City and Los Angeles which will teach students all about playwriting. Once someone takes these courses they will be able to construct a great project which will eventually be successful. Some of the top people on Broadway are constantly looking for new talented individuals who can tell a unique story.

The script will introduce interesting characters who are able to hold the audience's attention for at least two hours. Human beings who arrange plays are always creating unique characters who will find themselves in easy or difficult situations. Sometimes the character's issues can be resolved by the end of the show since many of these stories tend to have happy endings.

Whenever someone puts together a program they will first construct a great protagonist who is very likable and has good manners. This is the character which will go through many hectic situations and the program centers around them fully. Fortunately many protagonists are written as good natured individuals who are willing to help out their fellow man.

The antagonist is the mortal enemy of any protagonist written into a program. Some of these antagonists become very famous for their quick and witty lines which are written for them. Many years ago a certain antagonist named Dr. Smith dominated the series "Lost In Space." He was originally written into the show as a temporary character who would be instantly killed off. Unfortunately this character lasted for three seasons and finally tanked the entire show.

Many new writers dream about casting famous actors like Harrison Ford or Julie Andrews in their productions. At times these actors will only commit to a production for a few weeks or months. More than likely they will also want to play the role of the protagonist since this character is usually the lead. On some rare occasions high paid celebrities may want to expand their horizons and take on the role of the antagonist.

Money is always a major issue for any writer who is working within the entertainment world. Sometimes a script writer will hire a financial advisor who can help them to make important decisions. The budget should cover the actors salary, wardrobe expenses, scenery and other items.

If someone is writing a big spectacular play then they should always rent the largest theater for the production. This is also important when a show has already proven to be a hit in other cities. These are usually called revivals and they will more than likely draw a huge audience on opening night.
